Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a group of behavioural symptoms that include inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Common symptoms of ADHD include a short attention span and/or being easily distracted, restlessness or constant fidgeting, being impulsive or acting without thinking.
To establish a diagnosis of ADHD/ADD the symptoms should be inappropriate for the child’s age and are usually present in more than one setting (home/school). ADD/ADHD can often exist alongside other difficulties and impact on a child’s academic attainment.
