It is pleasing to report that the new term has started well following our long Summer break. This newsletter contains a few reminders about routines and expectations for pupils and an update on developments at the School.
The School Day
School starts at 8.45am and your child should be present for registration at this time. The school gates are open from 8.30am and staff are present to check that pupils are in the correct uniform. Breakfast club takes place from 8.30am.
The day ends at 3.30pm and the school closes at 4pm.
The expectation is that your child attends school in full uniform and, as previously mentioned, staff are present in the morning to check pupil’s clothing. If there is a reason your child does not have the correct attire please inform the school office.
We have had seven new students join the Senior School this term, joining the Year 7 class alongside three pupils that transitioned from the Juniors. We are pleased to say they have all settled in well.
Assessments will be taking place week beginning 21st September.
Walnuts Leisure Centre Activities
The Juniors will be swimming at the Walnuts Leisure Centre during the first half of term on Wednesdays.
This took place for the Senior pupils on the first day back (3rd September). The new Year 7s were set general targets for all subjects.
Learning Report Sheets
We are using a new daily pupil monitoring sheet to help students reflect on their day at school. The new sheets give staff a clearer overview of a pupil’s progress during lessons and any difficulties they may have encountered. These sheets are discussed with their class keyworkers at the end of the day.
We will be sending out subject and topic information for all classes this week.
As you aware, we take pupils off site for local trips to support their learning; please would you sign the permission slip which has been sent to you to allow us to continue with these activities.
We take many photos during the school year of activities and events that take place. There are a number of photograph albums outside the school office for you to view when you are visiting Brown’s. Periodically we update the school website and like to use photos of events that have taken place. We will also be producing a new school prospectus this year and will be taking photos for this brochure. Please inform the office if you would not like your child’s photograph published on the website or in the prospectus.
Peer Mentoring and School Council
Due to the success of these schemes they will be continuing for another academic year.
Please see attached newsletter from the Dyslexia Association. The School belongs to a number of specialist associations such as the Dyslexia Association, Dyspraxia Foundation, National Autistic Society to name a few. We are also a CReSTeD registered school. We will keep you update to date with any newsletters or information we receive from these organisations.
Please see the term dates for the academic year 2015-2016.
If there has been a change in your contact information please either email the details to [email protected] or complete the slip below.
