Curriculum

Classroom teaching follows the guidelines of the National Curriculum. The core subjects of English, Maths, Science and ICT are adapted to take account of each individual 's needs.

Literacy and Numeracy sessions are timetabled for each morning. Individual tuition is linked with these lessons. Each child is a member of a small group for daily Reading support. The Literacy course encourages reading for pleasure as well as for reference. A wide selection of books is provided for school and home use.

Art, Music and Drama are important elements of our School life. These activities help to improve motor and co-ordination skills as well as being creative and therapeutic. Individual potential can be realised and confidence boosted through involvement in music and drama productions.

Our pupils are fortunate in being taught on a site surrounded by cultivated gardens, woodlands and fourteen acres of open playing fields for football, cricket, hockey, rounders and athletics.

A modern sports hall provides us with generous covered space for daily occupational therapy exercises, yoga, gymnastics, indoor hockey and football, badminton, netball and basketball.

The children also enjoy access to the indoor swimming and sports facilities at the Walnuts Leisure Centre, Orpington.
